The workshop was founded in 1924 by Gaston Loizeau in La Romagne (Maine-et-Loire). We are now the fourth generation of cabinetmakers carrying on this craft. The story is no longer only a family one: today it is former employees of the house who keep it alive.

A joiner mainly works on building elements (doors, windows, staircases); a cabinetmaker specialises in furniture, with the care for joinery and finish that fine furniture demands.

Every bespoke piece is designed and built in La Romagne by our cabinetmakers Dominique and Sébastien, then stamped with our maker's mark.

Yes, 100%. Everything is built in our La Romagne workshop (49), from cutting the wood to the finish — no outsourcing abroad.

Our showroom is open at 44 rue Nationale in La Romagne, Monday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. You can also book a personalised meeting with a cabinetmaker.

In five steps: listening to your needs, design (drawings and 3D views), building in the workshop, finishing (sanding, staining, varnishing), then delivery and installation. Mastering every step in-house is one of Meubles Loizeau's strengths.

Yes: we project your piece on paper and in 3D through our design studio, so you can visualise it before it is built. With AI, we can even place it directly within your own interior.

The budget is higher than an industrial store piece, but it is not the same product: solid wood rather than veneered board, dimensions and style designed for your space, French handcrafting, and a durability measured in generations. It is a unique, repairable and heirloom piece, whereas an entry-level item is replaced after a few years.

We work with many solid-wood species — oak, ash, walnut, cherry — and advise you on the one best suited to your project, use and budget.

We favour local, high-quality sourcing. Our wood comes from regional sawmills, such as the Mervent sawmill.

Solid wood is more durable, can be repaired, sanded and patinated over time, whereas veneered board has a limited lifespan. We work in solid wood for furniture that spans generations.

Sanding, bespoke staining, varnishing and lacquer, to reveal the natural beauty of the wood and protect your piece. We can also match a stain already present on furniture in your home, though this requires more work.

Lead time varies by project and is confirmed precisely with the quote. Generally allow 1 to 3 months depending on the nature of your project.

Yes, we deliver and install your piece ourselves — the final step that completes the project. Depending on the distance, we may call on a carrier.

Yes. In that case we use a carrier, which may involve an additional cost.

Our workshop is in La Romagne (49), between Cholet and Nantes. We work throughout Maine-et-Loire, Vendée, Loire-Atlantique and Deux-Sèvres. We can of course deliver anywhere in France via a carrier.

Yes, revamping is part of our craft. We bring old or family furniture back to life: sanding, staining, lacquering, transformation. A durable alternative, often rich in history.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth, avoid abrasive or silicone-based products, and match the care product to the finish (wax, varnish or lacquer). Avoid prolonged sun exposure, proximity to heat sources and excess humidity, and wipe up any spilled liquid quickly.
